As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and following previous announcements from the Norwegian Government, Norway aligns its sanctions regime targeting Russia with the EU sanctions.

The first package of new sanctions, formally incorporated into Norwegian law on 18 March 2022, corresponds to the restrictive measures imposed by the EU up to and including 9 March 2022.

Next package of EU sanctions imposed on 15 March, is now being considered for rapid incorporation into Norwegian law.

The full text of the new regulations will be published shortly.

As previously informed, the EU-package of 09 March restricted the export of maritime navigation goods and radio communication technology as well as technical assistance, brokering services or other services, including financing or financial assistance related to the goods and technology referred. Crypto assets were also added in the sanctions, by clarifying the notion of “transferable securities”.
