Mr. Johan P. Barlindhaug
Mr. Johan P. Barlindhaug is presently President of the Board of North Energy AS, Alta. Previously Barlindhaug founded and managed the consultancy company Barlindhaug in Tromsoe up to 2004. Mr. Barlindhaug also served as chair of the Governmental Regional Commission of Norway (Distriktskommisjon) which in 2004 brought forward proposals regarding development of a Norwegian regional policy. He has acted as advisor for various oil companies and Norwegian authorities regarding development of the Norwegian High North and is a frequent lecturer. He holds a Professor II position at the University of Nordland and has for the last three decades been an active and outspoken expert on development of bilateral business relations with the Russian Federation in the Northern areas.
On the 20th of November 2009, Mr. Barlindhaug was appointed a Commander of the Order of Saint Olav by King Harald V of Norway "for social useful activity”. It was also said that the decision regarding the award was taken by reason "of Barlindhaug’s important role in social and economic development in northern Norway”.
In 1995 Mr. Barlindhaug was made an officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
