Managing Director, Jarle Forbord
Jarle Forbord has broad experience from various forms of business and advisory activities from the Barents Region, the Baltics, the Balkans, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the SADC region and from cooperation with multilateral financing organizations and institutions.
During the 1980s, he held several leading management positions in various private companies in the high north of Norway, in Kirkenes and Tromso, within trade, tourism, transport and production. He has served as Captain, Border Assistant and Interpreter to the Norwegian Border Commissioner on the Norwegian-Soviet Border, worked as Vice President in South - Varanger Investment and Business Development Company and established and worked as CEO of a new trading company, Barents Company, in Kirkenes
In 1988, he was appointed Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Moscow. In 1994, he returned to the Norwegian Trade Council in Oslo, working as a Project Manager for the Multiplan Project, developing improved links between Norwegian businesses and multilateral financing institutions such as the World Bank, the EBRD, the African Development Bank and national export credit and guaranty institutions.
After the Dayton Agreement, he moved to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo and served as Commercial Counsellor, connecting Norwegian businesses to multilateral financed projects contributing to the reconstruction of Bosnia - Hercegovina. From late 1997, he worked as Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Zimbabwe covering the SADC region and later on as Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Pretoria in South Africa, representing as well the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation in various contract discussions between Norwegian businesses and African partners in the region.
In 2003 he was engaged as a consultant in setting up the NRCC in Oslo and was soon appointed its Managing Director.
He speaks Norwegian, Russian, English, Dutch and German.
